Update: I received 2 letters via snail-mail from Chase with tracking numbers for 10,000 Continental miles and 15,000 Continental miles respectively. Both letters had a contact number for a personal banker to speak with and my correct Continental Onepass mileage number listed on them without my having to call up Chase to supply it!

-Based on advice in this thread on the Dansdeals Forums I was successfully able to open a consumer account online by using the unique coupon code generated when you click on the offer links above!  Just generate your own coupon code, and apply for a checking account online. The “Chase checking” account is free with 5 debit transactions in a month. The “Chase better banking” account is free with a $1,500 balance.

-You enter the coupon code on the page right after choosing an account and clicking “Open now.”

-Be sure to also request the $25 Continental debit card when you apply online.

-I was able to fund the account with $500 from my Chase Continental credit card, thereby earning another 500 easy miles!  You can fund the account with any Visa or Mastercard for up to $500.  It specifically says that it will count as a purchase, not as a cash advance.

-You must fund the account with a minimum of $100 of new funds.

-There is no need to open a savings account, you can however fund it with another $500 if you choose to open one.

-If you’re worries about getting the miles, you may want to make a printout of the offer during the application when it mentions the 25,000 miles.

-There is no place to enter in your Continental Onepass number, so you will have to call up Chase after you receive your debit card to supply them with your mileage number.

-Only the consumer offer accepted the code for me online, the business offer did not work with the code online-you’ll have to go in a branch for that one.

-On an account that I opened last year 22,500 miles posted within a few weeks of making the 5 debit purchases, and the remaining 2,500 miles took a of couple months.

-I was able to make 5 debit purchases at a Sam’s Club gas station for $0.02 each which qualified for the miles-so there is no minimum on the 5 purchases.

-25,000 miles is enough for a free domestic ticket (only 20,000 miles are needed for short-haul flights under 1,500 RT miles, like New York-Chicago) and is 33% of the way towards a free ticket to Israel (75,000 miles)

Update: Today is the last day to open an account and get the free GPS!

I successfully completed a similar offer in April when it was last offered. I opened the Key Business Money Market Account with $2,502 and paid off 2 of my credit cards with $1 each. I received the Nuvi 265WT exactly 60 days after completing my 2 bill payments.

Once again the Business Money Market Account qualifies for the superior GPS, earns interest, and has no fees as long as there is $2,500 in the account.

Update 2-07/23: Tomorrow (07/24) the Ally no-penalty CD and online savings will remain at 1.9% and 1.85% respectively.  The regular 1 year CD will go down from 2.05% to 2%.

Update-07/16: I have been informed that the Ally bank rates will decrease tomorrow (07/17) as follows: The No Penalty CD will go down from 2% to 1.9%, the 1 year CD will go down from 2.1% to 2.05%, and the online savings will go down from 1.95% to 1.85%. Open a CD right now to lock in the higher rates!!!

Ally Bank has a unique no-penalty 9 month CD offering a 2.00% APY.

Normally you must leave the money in a CD for the entire predetermined term.  With the no-penalty CD you can withdraw your funds at any time from the CD and you will get back your entire deposit with all accrued interest without any penalty!  That way if rates go up in the near-term or if you have a need for the funds you can earn a  great rate and not worry about locking up your money.  The 2% rate is guaranteed for the 9 month term.

The advantage of a no-penalty CD over a savings or money market account is that the rate of the money market account can be dropped at any time, whereas the rate on the CD cannot be lowered, and if it goes up you can always enroll in the higher no-penalty CD!

This is by far the highest interest rate that I have seen for a checking/money market account!
