El Al is offering discounted coach and business class award tickets to select cities that can be found in the link above.
Awards are only discounted for “Executives,” but it’s very easy to become an executive. A transfer of just 5,000 AMEX points from the US AMEX Membership Rewards program to El Al’s Matmid program will earn you executive status for a year. Points transfer instantly from AMEX to El Al, though it takes about a day after the transfer for the executive status to take effect on your El Al Matmid account.
-Note that transferred points expire after 36 months and can’t be extended with activity.
-Discounted awards are also available between Tel Aviv and Europe, South Africa, and the Far East.
-These awards must be booked by 9/30.

I’m not aware of any issues.
ElAl has $809 flights for a lot of those dates. I don’t see how 69K MR + $345 is a good deal at all. That’s valuing MR at 0.67cpp. You’re better off just buying through the Amex travel site at 1cpp (or just pay cash and save MR for better redemptions)

It would be worth it if you stay longer than the $809 fare allows, for example for a student, etc.
Hi Dan, at what rate would you value matmid points?
Dan I love your posts but this one cannot possibly be a deal at all. Elal no more has insane fares for students as they used to, a 12 month ticket (return in June) only costs $1173 for most dates.

Until they eliminate the fuel surcharges on award flights their deals are sub-par
