Love the made in China

Made In China

To be fair – if every company is manufacturing clothes in China at such a low cost and an American Patriot wants to do something nice and make the same quality in the USA and try to remain competitive at the same time to that of those companies in China, then he will have to file for Bankruptcy within the year. It’s called simple business logic… If it costs so much more to make it here and you want to keep the prices low, it isn’t going to happen. The only way to keep it fair is by taxing imports and increasing the cost of producing it over seas. This is called common sense… And to those who argue that this will start a trade war, well – it can’t be worse than what we currently have; which is, we are losing bad…

Dan

@Made In China:
You’re correct, it’s just ironic that he doesn’t take a more principled stand. American goods do command a premium price point though, so it can be done. It’s just harder. Besides he’s clearly not averse to bankruptcy court 😉

However a trade war could be far, far worse than status quo. Are you prepared to pay 5x for your clothes and electronics compared to what you are paying now? How about not even being able to get them at all because it would take several years to ramp up production here?

Scotchy88

Did you have to stick it to trump?
Lol!

Dan

@Scotchy88:
Always love to add in some humor when I can 🙂

Made In China

@Dan: Yeah, but he’s not going to pursue a business venture unless he thinks it will succeed…

And with regards to your trade war comment:
If the government guts many of the idiotic regulations, make it illegal for employees to unionize (hey, you don’t want the job, quit), reduce business taxes, etc. this should greatly reduce the cost. And I wouldn’t mind paying more for something if made in America and I wasn’t given the option to buy it somewhere else. I probably wouldn’t necessarily buy as much and would be more careful with mu purchases, cut out the waste.

“Several years to ramp up production” – you’re underestimating the power of the people, I don’t think this to be the case…

Dan

@Made In China:
Ban unions? Good luck with that one!
Kasich actually tried that in a small scale in OH with a full Republican executive and legislative branch and it was considered his greatest failure. So good luck pulling that off on a larger scale.

Do you realize how many hundreds of millions of people in China are making our stuff right now?

You won’t find that expertise or those numbers in the USA even if you wanted to in a shorter period of time.

Even Trump doesn’t believe his pie in the sky stuff. It’s no different than Bernie’s pie in the sky proposals. The point of them is to get people excited about utopian ideas, not to actually follow through with them.

Made In China

@Dan: That union part was just an idea:) But there are states that are more easier to deal with when it comes to Unions…

Ok, so it won’t happen overnight, but with over 50 million out of the workforce – it can be done in time…

Let’s say there are 200,000 Chinese people making out products, then if the US can not supply enough to meet up with demand then we allow Chinese products to come through. For example, bar all toys and electronics from coming in, yet allow furniture and appliances to come in. You tweak it however you want it to make sure that, “AMERICA COMES FIRST”.

This is manufacturing – it’s not rocket science and it shouldn’t take that long for people to learn.

Shmelke

@Made In China:
Everyone should buy the Chinese made Trump suits now because after January they will no longer be available. Is there anywhere I can buy American made Trump products?

Anonymous

@Made In China: Stop putting politics in here.You are all making no sense. Do you want politics go to the different websites

Tony

So is it stupid to buy these suits? Tommy hilfinger for $150 is a bad purchase?

SholomAlYisroel

@Dan:

Dan, you say “Ban unions? Good luck with that one!” Meanwhile Gov Scott Walker did that in Wisconsin with government employees, which is much more difficult than regular unions.
Results: a) Recall election, that failed royally
b) Re-elected with strong majority
c) Higher productivity
d) Significant Cost reductions

With regards to Gov Kasich in Ohio:
a) It was only a proposal. I dont think it was ever a serious.
b) You write “it was considered his greatest failure”, meanwhile he is extremely popular in his state, as you have seen in Ohio’s primary results.

These unions are the worst thing for the economy.

Dan

@SholomAlYisroel:
False:

And if it was repealed resoundingly in OH, what chance do you think it has in more liberal states?

But keep believing those pie in the sky promises…even Donald told the NYT that he’s just saying those things for popularity purposes.
