Does this come with amazon prime?

fjdo

No, but I would suggest only getting this if you have Prime (as most of the features are unlocked for prime members)

Dave

Can this be sideloaded with the Android Play store and/or Microsoft store? The Amazon store is a lot more limited in the apps they have.

Fyi

If you are looking for a cheapo device with truly low expectations this is great.

If you are expecting a performance tablet at an extreme discount price you are in for disappointment.

You can let your kids use it with the highly customizable amazon free time , although I suggest you avoid freetime unlimited, but you should know freetime is very buggy and can be annoying, especially when there is no wifi, which seems to make it even more buggy.

Moshe

Yes, but you’ll have to buy Prime first.

I unsure how easy this is to load Gooogle App Store but I came across this. Could someone more tecnically inclined read and let us know if it only takes downloading and ckicking on a batch file(s)?

Is this a good decide for a toddler-aged child to use on an airplane?

I got one of these for my wife when it was on sale for $34.99. I was able to load CyanogenMod Android, and it’s fantastic. It’s much faster than it was on the Fire OS, and you can get the Google Play store and run all of the normal android apps. Plus you don’t have to put up with all of the Amazon ads. Don’t expect it to outperform a tablet that costs 10x the price, but it’s a remarkably nice 7″ tablet for $40.

@Sarah: No.

Installing Google Play is relatively easy. I used the “longer method” in post #4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/installing-google-framework-playstore-t3216122

The batch file is supposed to work, but i did not want to remove ads, because i kind of agreed to have them by buying at the cheaper price. Besides, the ads are only on the lock screen.

I’m a big fan of the $99 nexus 7

Install these 4 files using ES file explorer, and you have google play store.
