I am reading on the forums about the 6 cell battery not lasting at all.. also the laptop breaking down.. Dan what is your opinion of dell? I am looking into getting a new laptop.

I’m still a fan of Dell, because it’s simply the best bang for your buck.
Plus AMEX will refund the purchase price of the computer during their bonus year of warranty coverage if there’s a problem with the computer!
But is it true about the battery not lasting? And about the motherboard just blowing out?

Lol, no only a small percentage of laptops will have such problems. Of course those people tend to be more vocal than those without any problems.
There’s nothing wrong with Dells in general, now their offshore customer service is terrible on the other hand, but the same goes for almost all computer companies.

I have a Vostro 1500 that I bought 3 years ago which has had its share of bashing around and falling (a few times), and it’s still going strong. The battery doesn’t last as long as it did when new, but still lasts at least 2 1/2 hours…
