Flying Blue is the joint program of SkyTeam member Air France and KLM.
They consider Tel Aviv to be part of Europe which can make for some decent deals.

With the current offer that starts today you can fly in either direction between Atlanta, Boston, Houston, JFK, Or Washington DC and Israel, Europe, or Russia for just 12.5K miles each way!

Tax and fuel surcharges from the US adds about $101 one-way while tax and fuel surcharges from Israel adds about $137 one-way.

Availability is wide open. For example from JFK-TLV:

And BOS-TLV:

Flying Blue charges fuel surcharges on their own flights but not on Delta flights. However availability is much better on their own flights than on Delta flights. When there is Delta availability though it’s significantly cheaper to book the Delta flights with Flying Blue miles than with Delta Skypesos.

-They normally charge 25K miles each way in coach to Israel but they run rotating promo awards throughout the year that are valid for select cities.

-Promo awards are only valid on Air France or KLM.

-Travel is valid in either direction and is valid for one-way or round-trip travel.

-You need to book the current promo awards by 12/10.

-Travel is valid between 01/15-03/15.

-Promo awards are nonrefundable and non-changeable.

-Promo awards require Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles. You can’t use Delta miles for these awards and you can’t transfer Delta miles to Flying Blue.

-You can transfer AMEX or Citi points to Flying Blue at a 1K:1K ratio or Starpoints to Flying Blue at a 20K:25K ratio.

Want to pickup some Flying Blue miles?
AMEX MR points transfer instantly to Flying Blue at a 1:1 ratio, Citi Thank You points from the Premier, Prestige, or Chairman cards transfer at a 1:1 ratio, and Starpoints transfer at a 20:25 ratio so 20K Starwood becomes enough for a round-trip ticket between JFK and Tel Aviv.

American Express is a DansDeals.com advertiser.

-The Starwood Consumer AMEX and the Starwood Business AMEX awards 25K signup points with no fee for the first year. 20K Starpoints can transfer into 25K Flying Blue with the permanent 25% transfer bonus. Transfers can take a few days.

-American Express Membership Rewards points transfer instantly at a 1K:1K ratio to Flying Blue and can be earned from credit cards like The Amex EveryDay Preferred Card or The Amex EveryDay Card.

The Preferred card awards 1.5 miles per dollar everywhere, 3 miles per dollar on Uber and gas, and 4.5 miles per dollar on groceries if you make 30 transactions per month.

The EveryDay card awards 1.2 miles per dollar everywhere and 2.4 miles per dollar on Uber and groceries if you make 20 transactions per month.

You can also earn Membership Rewards points from consumer cards like the American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card and The Platinum Card® from American Express, and from business cards like the AMEX Business Gold Rewards Charge Card or The Business Platinum Card.

The Blue for Business® Credit Card from American Express has no annual fee and a limited time increased signup bonus. It earns a generous 1.3 points per dollar everywhere, but you’ll need any of the membership rewards cards listed above to transfer points from that card into airline miles.

Citi Thank You Premier, Prestige, and Chairman cardholders can also transfer points into Flying Blue. You can find credit card offers by issuing bank in the “other credit cards” tab at the top of this site.

Yg

Is this promo only for coach or is business also on sale?

Dan

@Yg:
From the US this round is just coach.
There are 25% off business awards from Montreal and Vancouver now as well.

CR

Is it available for the first week of January as well? (Specifically the 4th or 5th?)

Jake

Can i transfer chase rewards to this

Abe

Can sapphire points be transferred to blue?

abe

how can i search for delta direct i don’t see it on flying blue web site

Dan

@CR:
I wrote the valid dates in the post.

@Jake:
@Abe:
If you could, I’d have written it 😉

@abe:
There’s no easy way, you probably need to peck through all dates..

You can try searching Delta.com for 42.5K nonstop awards from JFK-TLV and then if you find something plugin that date to book with FB for 25K.

EJB

Waiting for first person to ask if you can book with Delta points 🙂

ExGingi

SPG points WILL NOT transfer on time to take advantage of this promo!

Based on experience SPG can take 3 weeks to transfer to FlyingBlue, this promo is only available to book until 12/10

KF

Anyone know what the dollar value of Flying Blue points are right now, if I were to purchase them? Just trying to figure out what the ticket would actually cost in dollars and cents…

Dan

@ExGingi:
There are also reports of Starwood-Flying Blue transferring in 2 days.
YMMV.

@KF:
It’s rarely worth buying miles from airlines.
On the grey market an AMEX point goes for about 1.45 cents, so 12.5K points would be worth about $181.

ExGingi

@Dan: YMMV, but I wouldn’t risk it. My experience more than once was close to 3 weeks.

$181+181+239=$601 in my mind hardly worth it, if revenue tickets are available for not much more (ex-BOS via JFK or EWR)

Looking for Best Option

Is there any other airline that takes close to 25k points RT to Israel?

Ruthy Creed

it looks like the 12.5K miles/one way is valid from Jan 16 and on…for the dates i chose they all have a stop in PARIS and the least layover is about 5 hours…pretty risky now? Dan, can transfering spg starpoints be done via the flying blue.com or airfrance.us website in 24 hours?

Hesh

Anything for immediate travel or must it only be in January? I’m looking to fly tomorrow (Wednesday) and I have lots of point of all types. Whats my best bet?
I have United point – Chase Ultimate Rewards – Amex – Starwoods

M.A.

How long is this limited promo supposed to last for?

Menb

How long should take transfer from CitiPrestige ThankYou points ?
@dan or anyone here with experience

Dan

@Looking for Best Option:
No.

@Ruthy Creed:
Not risky at all.
And there are shorter connections, see the screenshot in this post.

Starpoints are hard to predict. Can take a few days, can take a couple weeks to transfer.

@Hesh:

@M.A.:
Read the post.

@Menb:
A couple of days.
Only AMEX MR is instant.

Devorah

Can I use chase sapphire points for this? If not are there any good deals for the summer either leaving from America or Europe?

interesting

One day after 30% increase from MR ends… I was looking for these awards last month but they where not to be found. Should i have had the foresight to transfer anyways?

Starwood

So just making sure I got it clearly. It’s 20k star points round trip but also a $239 fuel charge additional?

yy

In the past, I’ve found Delta flights by looking for dates with a cash outlay — since the Delta JFK-TLV flight is non-stop, the taxes are much lower, and as Dan points out, they don’t charge fuel surcharges for Delta. There don’t seem to be any dates here with Delta availability (at least from JFK and BOS).

Sari

Ok I’ll ask. Can I use delta points for this?

srap

I’ll be nice before someone else answers.
Look in the words under the three picture insets in the post. The following sentences:

You can’t use Delta miles for these awards and you can’t transfer Delta miles to Flying Blue.

Sari

@srap I was kidding. 😁

SW

Okay, I’m a miles idiot with starwood points, can someone explain to me how to take my family to Israel in coach over the summer? Thanks. (All other things being equal, would like to combine with British Arways points if possible.)

Chaim

Can I use my capital one card and transfer miles?

Is it really about 12k miles plus 100$ and you can go from US to IL? That sounds very inexpensive… Can someone explain to me the part I’m missing? If I don’t have these special Blue miles… Can I pay for some at a reasonable price? I am not really a frequent traveler but I would like to visit my family more often in America and continue living in Israel. Thanks for the help.

Moshe

Can i use avois or united points for this ? Also is this direct flights or stopover ?

ann

It says should be good til December 10. Looked again today and cannot find TLV-JFK as a Promo award only regular.Did they pull it???

Luckyluck

Anyone knows if i will be able to cancel it within 24h ?

moish

According to the link, the sale has been extended an extra 10 days until the 20th
