heres a rookie question: can I buy a bunch of cvs cards w my credit card for min spend and then use gift cards to buy a visa gift card?

A bit off topic, but a few month ago I bought Chevron/Texaco cards via one of these deals, and I can’t find a Chevron or Texaco station anywhere in New York or New Jersey. Are there any stations in NY or NJ? If not, any ideas about what I can do with those cards?

In general no – but I once used an AMEX GC at CVS to purchase a Visa GC – & it worked at the register under $300 so no License request and the register let it go through.
The few other times I tried it the cashier noticed & did not let/try the register so I only have that one time.

Just checked, they are offering too little for them – I’d rather hold on to them and bring them with me when I travel.
In theory, Phillips 66, 76, and Conoco gift cards should be interchangeable, but in reality YMMV. I’ve tried using Phillips 66 gift cards at three different 76 stations in the Queens/Long Island area and they only accepted them at one. But for that station, it’s a very good deal — got gas yesterday for 2.479 full serve, which is equivalent to 2.23.
