I am from Cleveland and need to go out to LAX in May and this is awesome. I looked at the Erie prices and see they still work. Problem is the Erie flight is not direct and stops in Cleveland. Is it possible to buy the ticket at the Erie original departure city and just miss that flight and somehow get on the one in Cleveland.

No, but ERI is really not that far from Cleveland. I’ve flown out of there and stayed at a cheap hotel with a free parking and a shuttle.
If you miss a leg generally all remaining legs of the ticket are canceled.
You can miss the final CLE-ERI leg as long as you don’t have baggage though.
