Update, 05/06: The rates have gone back up to 800 Matmid points each way.
————————————————————————
El Al is back with yet another discounted award promotion for flights from NYC to Tel Aviv.

The normal summer rate from NYC to Tel Aviv is 1,000 Matmid points (50K AMEX points) each way plus fuel surcharges.
The summer rate for Executives from NYC to Tel Aviv is 800 Matmid points (40K AMEX points) each way plus fuel surcharges.

With this currently unadvertised promotion for “Executives,” a one-way flight from NYC to Tel Aviv is 400 Matmid points (20K AMEX points) plus $160 in taxes and fuel surcharges.
A round-trip from NYC to Tel Aviv is 800 Matmid points (40K AMEX points) plus $355 in taxes and fuel surcharges.

Itā€™s easy to obtain Matmid executive status.Ā  A transfer of just 5,000 points from the US AMEX Membership Rewards program to El Alā€™s Matmid program will earn you executive status for a year. Your account should reflectĀ executive member status within about 24 hours from the transfer. You can transfer points from AMEX to El Al instantly via this link.

Note that transferred points expire after 36 months and canā€™t be extended with activity.

-Departures valid between May 5 and July 18, 2015.
-Returns valid any time.
-The booking deadline for this promotion is currently unknown and can end at any time.

baruch

Chaim

What’s the cancellation policy?

Dan

@baruch:
“unadvertised promotion”

Odds are there will be a link when El Al wakes up and decides to advertise it.

How do I transfer amex points to matmid?

Ruth

Thanks Dan
I clicked the link, this is what I get:
We’re sorry but Flight Finder Room Finder is not available in the Membership Rewards Express program.

Is there a way to transfer starwood points?

mark

my amex points are spg. is this still worth it considering spg points are said to be the most valuable amex points?

Dan

@Ruth:
You need to get one of the cards I wrote about in the post to transfer points into miles.

@Anonymous:
@mark:
SPG doesn’t transfer to El Al.

dina

will i be able to book this if i am just joining the matmid program
is this for “some executive members” or all

Dan

@dina:
I’ve tried from more than one executive account and they had this promotion.

I’ve never heard of targeted El Al promotions only to certain executives.

question

so i need to transfer points to become an executive and then i can book it?

Dan

@question:
“Your account should reflect executive member status within about 24 hours from the transfer.”

Yanky

Do we need an existing matmid account?
If so, how do I sign up for one?

Dan

@Yanky:
Use the link in comment 8 and click create account.

There are also a couple available dates on Air France FB for
NYC > TLV (Direct) One Way – Operated by Delta
25,000 FB Points + $23 Taxes

MJ

Any way to use Chase sapphire points or Hilton Honors Amex points? Thank you.
(I have matmid membership)

Abraham

U wrote “Departures valid between May 5 and July 18, 2015.” where can I find flights for July 18 date ?

aaron

I have 450 matmid points to sell where can I sell them? And what’s the value of a matmid point?

aaron

Is there a way to transfer from matmid to amex?

Mendy

Hi Dan,
I would like to fly from Boston, is there a way to check if this deal is available without being a member? Thank you

Moses

Ummm what browser are you using that presents Elal’s website as competent enough to book a ticket for you?!

Deal Guy

Is there a minimum transfer amount from Amex to Elal? You keep on mentioning transferring 5,000 Amex into 100 Elal. Is it not possible to transfer 1,000 Amex into 20 Elal, or 2,000 into 40 Elal?

Based on the above question, if someone has Has Advantage points, does he need to transfer enough points to equal 100 Elal points in order to become Executive, or would any amount suffice?

Thanks

Deal Guy

You are correct. You must earn at least 100 Elal points.

slmyrcb

Is there a link to this “unadvertised” sale? The regular Executive Club rates I see on their site is 1400 not 800.

oyoy

This means that if you want to book a 3( from TLV-NYC-TLV you should book the legs separately?

boris

hi @dan i called and they said it wasnt confirmed, and that was after they gave me a reservation number. I also went online to see if i can book it using their reservation system and it shows 1000 points each way. was this confirmed please?

Gabi

Can i use delta amex or jetblue amex points?

Dan

@MikaelRap:
That’s the normal rate.

@MJ:
No.

@Abraham:
Not all valid dates will have award seats.

@aaron:
No

@Mendy:
Read the post?

@Deal Guy:
You need to transfer in 100 Matmid points to get status,

@slmyrcb:
If there was a link it would be advertised!

@boris:
Does your account show executive status?

Yitzchok

Dan, I tried following your instructions in comment 18 above and it just took me to the activity detail of points I earned and totals. Please advise.

joe

deal is dead, now showing 800 points for one way

Miles

I transferred points , got Exec status by ElAl and entered dates and still see 800 points per flight even entered your sample dates and see 800 not 400 what am i doing wrong ?

Dan

@Miles:
Seems like the deal is already dead šŸ™

But these seem to be coming along more frequently, so stay tuned for the next promotion.

Joe S

Sorry that this is in the wrong place, but what’s the fastest way to go about transferring my AMEX MR from my account to someone else’s El Matmid account with a different last name. Do I need to call up and add them as an authorized user on the business. I did that yesterday with a couple of people, and they still don’t show up online. Do I have to wait until I physically receive their Amex card?

abe

hi I tried to get the tickets for 400 points and el al told me its for silver and up not plain executive so they would not honor it

Dan

@abe:
It was working for all executives yesterday, as shown in the screenshots.

mee

supposedly its starting tomorrow- not yesterday. lets see if thats correct… (i booked yesterday and there was an issue with payment and elal said the special doesnt start until tomorrow and theyll hold the reservation until than)

boris

hi @mee did you hear back? i checked the website and there have been no updates.

mee

I actually did hear back from them. They honored my ticket today (literally drive them nuts) and not sure about the promotion.. apparently it was some sort of glitch in the system online. Elal never seems to phase me. No idea if they plan on coming out with a promotion or not seems people there just say things for the heck of it. good luck

Big masmid

Can Matmid executive book for a family member or does the exec member have to be the passenger?

toni

Is this promotion still available? On the El Al site it says you need 1800 matmid points to get a bonus ticket. I called El Al and they said they weren’t aware of this promotion.

Chaim

I cant seem to figure out how to search on Elal for an award ticket. Is it possible that I cannot search since I have a zero balance in my account?

zeke

is this deal still going on for executive status I was confused by the starting tomorrow line
