Brazilian carrier TAM will start flying nonstop between JFK and Toronto later this month.
It’s a tag-on flight from Sao Paulo and operated so that the 767 doesn’t just sit parked at JFK all day. It’s a 5th freedom route that allows a foreign carrier to sell tickets on select routes between 2 other countries. Similar to the JFK-Vancouver 777 route that is sold by Cathay Pacific.
TAM’s merger partner LAN used to serve the route, but that ended a few years ago.
TAM is a OneWorld airline, so you can use Avios for this route. The rates are the same as for flights on American, 4.5K Avios in coach and 9K Avios in business each way.
In coach you’ll get 1 free 50 pound bag, in business you’ll get 3 free bags.
With the current sale it’s worth just saving those miles for another time.

jfk–yyz on April 16 not available because this flight not available on Thursdays.
March 26th from jfk to Toronto is not available they move it date to the 29th bec they have the option for flexible dates and b4 you book U see the date is the 29th not the 26th
