With the recent collapse of the Russian Ruble Aeroflot has not yet adjusted their prices if you pay in Rubles you can get some very cheap deals from JFK (or Washington DC or LAX) to India Asia and the Middle East. (Probably to Europe too but it might not be worth the extra expense/hassle of getting to New York)
Some sample fares from New York for most days after Christmas include aprox. $600 USD to Dubai. $525 to Tel Aviv, $750 to Bangkok.
Drive down or use points to get to JFK and you have a very cheap if longish option.
Aeroflot is actually surprisingly decent to fly on. Mostly new planes etc.
