When clicking on the link, what comes up under that price is either used or refurbished. The new ones are $350 and up.

Does your wife make 5 LBs?

Meryl

Anyone know if this is as big as the Bosch? Good for 5 pounds of flour?

tpatrach

You will need 2 bowls to make 5 pounds. I have mine for over 40 years and got an extra bowl as soon as I realized one bowl was not sufficient for 5lbs. of flour. You have to divide all the other ingredients into 2 as well, of course. It’s not very convenient and almost as soon as the Bosch and Magic Mill came out, I bought them (a few years apart. Also received a Viking, which is similar in design to the KitchenAid, as a gift. Similar but still did not produce the same results) Bottom line – nothing works as well all around for cakes, cookies, beating egg whites, etc. as the KitchenAid. But since it’s such a hassle to use two bowls, I use the Magic Mill for my challos. WHEN WILL KITCHENAID MAKE A LARGER MODEL, GOOD FOR 5 LBS.??? AND NOT THE SIZE OF THE MONSTROSITY COMMERCIAL MODEL.

tzip

so this does not help in making a 5lb challah recipe?

Dan

My wife says she uses just under 5 pounds of flour in her mixer.

chanie

I actually ordered this a few weeks ago when it was on sale at the price of 289. I heard from some people that they make five lbs without a problem. However, some complained that the motor went and the company only gives a one year warranty on it. Both Amazon and UPS said I could return it and just refuse the shipping of the item so I don’t’ get charged for return shipping. BedBath has the Bosch for 399 but if you get a 20% off coupon – which is offered from time to time -it brings it down to 320. At that price, I would get that, once I was going to pay 289 for the Kitchen Aid. The kitchen aid is great for other things but I have a 5 Qt already.
