Google Voice Now Has Free Calling To Canada!

Effective immediately you can now make calls from anywhere in the world to Canada.  You can make the calls directly from the Gizmo5 dialer, but that service has unfortunately been limited to just 3 minute phone calls at a time.

You can also have Google Voice call your Gizmo5 number on your desktop and connect you with any US or Canadian number for free and you won’t have any limitations on the call length.

See the related post linked to above for more info and for the link to get your own free Google Voice phone number, which is currently taking less than 1 week to arrive.

I tried to join up from Australia, but got the following message when logging in:

Google Voice is not available in your country.
Thanks for visiting Google Voice. We’re not yet open for users outside the US, but are planning to expand our service to additional countries in the future.

It actually used to be free under GrandCentral so it is good to see that they changed it back. Especially since Canadian numbers use the same area code system as the US.

You can only sign up for Google Voice in the US. Commenters on the previous post noted how to sign up for it when out of the US.
