Maybe someone can help. I owe about 3,000 in taxes to the IRS. I can use my Starwood card to pay it but pay a 2.49% fee for using the card. That is about $75. Is it worth it to pay $75 to get 3,000 starwood points.

0.025 a point. Not bad.
your turn dan 🙂

Unless your points are worth more than 2.5 cents each, then no. I probably wouldn’t do it unless it was worth 3 cents or more each.

With most regular credit cards, points are worth 1 cent. With some cards, you can get closer to 2 cents per point, and then some cards can go higher per point, but usually that is tied to a specific category (restaurants, gas, etc).

So chances are that this is not a good idea, but check your specific situation
