Kosher Slurpee List (Chicago Rabbinical Council)

Additionally with the 7-Eleven app or by texting FREE to 711711 you can get free stuff at 7-Eleven from 07/12 through 07/19.  See the bottom of this page for the full details.

Best of all my local 7-Eleven stores all process their charges as gas stations (even the ones that aren’t gas stations) which means everything they sell (including gift cards) earns 5-5.5 points per dollar on Chase Freedom this quarter!

You can lookup store categories on Visa’s supplier locator site.

Yeshivaman

Just so you guys know, there was a while that the 7-11 in Lakewood wasn’t participating in any of the app coupons. I don’t know if that changed.

Dan

@Yeshivaman:
That’s against 7-Eleven terms.
Call corporate to complain.

Jason Smith

The store categories are not the same for Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. We went to an arcade place with rides and mini golf, on Mastercard it cam up as a restaurant (they do sell food) but on American Express it cam up as a public golf course.

Dan

@Jason Smith:
Unfortunately only Visa publishes this list.
Fortunately Freedom is issued as a Visa 😀

Kevin

@Dan: Ad says at Participating 7-elevens only. Last year we were in Northbrook on July 11 and the place ran out of cups and some flavors. The person working there said take a bigger cup or offered a coupon for a future visit. What a difference than the east coast.

Dan

@Kevin:
People have called corporate about the LW store in the past and gotten them to honor promotions.

fraimal

Someone wrote a letter in one of the lakewood weekly publications begging people to hold off going to 07/11 on 07/11! its so easy to make a kiddush hashem and go on 07/12 and actually pay for a slurpee!

Dan

@fraimal:
Give me a break. Companies run promotions for people to take advantage of them.
If they didn’t want people getting free stuff then they wouldn’t give it away and spend millions advertising it. I fail to see the “kiddush hashem” in that.
Let’s also make “kiddush hashems” by not using any coupons and not opening credit cards for signup bonuses, lets signup and ask for there not to be a bonus…

Now I personally wouldn’t wait in a line to save $1, but that’s a different story.

fraimal

You have to understand that there are daycamps that come to 07/11 with over 200 kids each running around in a store that is not meant to hold that crowd! you can imagine what a zoo it is and the employees get very upset. And they do all of this to save $120!! its not the individuals that make the mess and cause the choas! its the bigday camps!

fraimal

and btw i sign up for many credit cards! this is way different! this is taking crazy advantage of a promotion that is supposed to bring people to come to thier store, not to provide entire day camps!! i have no problem wiht individuals going. i just think that its wrong for huge crowds to come!

Dan

@fraimal:
Fair enough. I wouldn’t mind if the store limited it to kids with their parents only.

Kevin

@fraimal: I agree with you also. Most stores would not allow such a large group in at one time even if they are paying for it. It scares away regular customers and potential creates a safety issue. Camps need to arrange in advance before they decide to drop in on a store, movie theater, bowling alley, etc. A store that handles 5 or 6 people at a time can’t possible have 100 (even well behaved kids) just drop in on them. Once word would get out that they allow it every camp in the neighborhood would be there.

Yaakov

The problem is not the kids or the crowds – the problem is counselors and staff who can’t manage to organize their groups to enter, get slurpees, and leave in a quiet, respectable manner without leaving a terrible mess.

1. There is an art to filling a slurpee cup cleanly that most kids under 7 cannot yet master – help them out counselors!

2. Slurpee machines are not designed to fill 200 consecutive servings in 10 minutes. IF THE RED LIGHT IS ON, YOU WILL ONLY GET LIQUID. GET A DIFFERENT FLAVOR OR WAIT!!

3. Don’t overfill, and if you spill, clean it up!

4. Respect the clerks and the other customers – And make sure each and every camper says THANK YOU on the way out!

Big Al

Slurpees are Pure Poison! Stay away and throw them in the lake!

Common Sense

@Dan:

I don’t think the store should have to make the limitation. The common good sense of any Jewish daycamp supposedly doing this should preempt that.

Yankee

I agree with Fraimal regarding the camps. I’ve seen them in action-Its insane!

I also got rejected with the app promo’s from 7-11 saying they werent participating in the promo…and it didnt say anything about “participating 7-11’s only”. Not worth even trying to save a dollar.

mendy

It’s great that 7-11 is considered a gas station, but 5% of nothing is how much?

Jew

Two 7-11’s I have been to did not let me use a credit card for gift cards, any suggestions?

Yiddle from Monsey

Hey Dan- is this promotion going to return on November 7 (11/7)which is 7-11 backwards? I won’t be near a 7-11 this Friday.

yesnom

@Yiddle from Monsey:
they let you pay without getting a slurpee

Bon

People in Teaneck have been getting free slurpees for the past month in Valpak.

me da slurpee feign

I recall special promo 7.11 oz cups every 7/11
Anyone know if that’s still the case.

Doctorman

Does the AMex Blue cash (old one) get 5% at 7/11?

Dan's the man

@Dan: @Jason Smith:
@Doctorman:
Amex does have different categories. 7-11’s don’t count as gas purchases for Amex. Discover seems to follow the same categorization as Visa/Mastercard as Discover 5% works for me at 7-11s during their gas 5% quarter.

Moshe

I live in Monsey, and it is a little embarrassing when you see a line of frum Jews waiting for their free Slurpee that wraps around the store and all the way to the street. The fact that people are willing to wait 20 minutes in line to save a dollar does not help the stereotype of Jews being cheap. I am not telling people not to take advantage of these promotions at a random 7/11; just maybe not in this situation.

Uber7-11

@Dan:

There was a full page ad this past week in one of the Lakewood publications, “signed” by a few big wigs in the Lakewood and Litvishe world bashing the “businesses” that sign up individuals and buy the points from them?

Uber7-11

@Dan: lol there was supposed to be a question after that. Did you see or here about that?

Camp

which town had days camps go in?

Emm…

E

FYI- we went to two different 7-11s yesterday in downtown Chicago trying to get the free M&M’s
on their website – both stores wouldn’t honor because they aren’t “corporate stores”. Lame.
