Snapshot Of Saver Level Awards To Tel Aviv This Summer

Saver awards to Israel can be tough, especially during summertime which is high season. For people redeeming round-trip coach saver awards to Israel in advance you are probably better off accumulating points on the Barclaycard Arrival Plus rather than traditional miles as the 2.11% back will probably be easier to use and require fewer points.

Saver awards typically open up within a month of the flight.  Here is a look at some of the nonstop options from North America to Tel Aviv.

I didn’t include El Al in this snapshot as their industry trailing website kept crashing as I was searching for award space, but their nonstop coach award can be booked by American for 45K miles each way.

Note that if you’re willing to fly with connections that there’s much more availability, but this post is just looking at nonstop flights.  Of course if you’ve been to a DansDeals seminar hopefully you know of even more ways to find award space.

Michelle

Great post. thanks.

Momofboys

Having trouble with way home.

ah

Thanks…having trouble finding anything for first week September, is that accurate or do I not have the magic touch? 😉

Dan

@Michelle:
Sure, YW.

@Momofboys:
Been a DD seminar?
Willing to take a connection?

@ah:
“Saver awards typically open up within a month of the flight.”

Gabi

Thanks!
Nothing TLV-NYC?

tlnl

I dont have ANA miles but can transfer from AMEX
I called ot see if there is still any space on July 3rd. They said I need at least 4 days before for mile flights from EWR-TLV.
How can I see the availability before I transfer my miles?

Momofboys

Haven’t been able to make it to the seminars
Flying myself with a baby don’t think I want to prolong the pain with a stopover

geshmak1

so if im looking for flights week of aug 10, i should wait another week or 2? also, if the transfer from spg to ana takes up to 10 days how do i know if i should switch my points or not? meaning will the availability still be there once i transfer my points?

Azis Papa

Thanks Dan for these posts. I need to travel to Israel at the end of August or very beginning of September. Doesn’t need to be non-stop but, I am coming from So. Fla (PBI or FLL, MIA if necessary) will I be able to find award flights from there or am I better off traveling to NY or Philly to catch a flight?

MarktMan

Nice availability on UA… as long as you don’t plan to use miles to return to the USA. Almost zero availability on the return…

Dan

@tlnl:
You can open an ANA account, search for an ANA award from LAX-NRT, click on Star Alliance search, and then search NYC-TLV.

@geshmak1:
That’s the main weak point of SPG.

@Azis Papa:
Search from both places. Be willing to use Avios+United if necessary.

@MarktMan:
A connection isn’t the end of the world.
Better yet take a free stopover for a few days in a fun European city.

Daniel

Hey dan, can you make another post in a month for award trips in late august for those of us going to yeshiva in Israel? Thank you!!!

Dubs

Dan, this is my first year playing the game, but you make it entirely FUN! Can’t wait to use my learned knowledge from DD seminar BK to book one day soon… YOU DA MAN!

geshmak1

@Dan: so what do you suggest, anywhere else i can transfer them to where i wont be locked in? anyway to utilize the 60k+ spg points i have? btw i really appreciate all your help ( not just w/ cc info but ive bought quite a few things that youve posted from amazon, kohls, groupon etc), we just got started with the whole sign up bonus thing and we have accumulated some miles, (not tons, but still trying) and hopefully that will help our israel trip this summer!

Leah

Trying to find from tlv to JFK but I can’t even seem to find that option

Dan thanks for the post ! How does the aa for Elal booking work? Looking for flight for fathers yurtiet

AJK

Good post, but the fact that it’s only done for one traveler reduces the usefulness for, I’d bet, a large swath of your readers. Here’s what non-stop UA availability looks for two non-cc carrying passengers in July and August.

Hardly promising.

AJK

And here’s what it looks like for for two cc-carrying passengers in July and August:

http://i.gyazo.com/48a836c055a9bef64120ab9ef9c7e2e9.png

Still abysmal.

Dan

@geshmak1:
With SPG it will always be a gamble.

@Anonymous:
Call AA to book.

@AJK:
Huh?
The post says for each date how many seats are available and it’s rarely just one.

Dan

Please help me. Chase is closing all my husbands chase bank accounts and credit cards. My husband has an excellent credit scour and always pays his cards on time. I believe that he only has 4 or five chase cards. United, freedom, Ink. Do you think that they are doing this as he has too many cards open. What should we do please help?

AJK

My first post above (#17) was unclear.

The graphic in your original post from UA’s award search is misleading, as it shows awards available for only one person.

Further, the text below makes it look like there are a lot more options for 2 passengers, when the fact is there are only FIVE days available over the next two MONTHS for people without the CC and EIGHT days for people with the CC.

Tough, tough, route for people who aren’t the most flexible.

Dan

@Anonymous:
Did he ever transfer points to someone else’s Chase card (besides for yours).
Anyone ever pay his Chase bill for him?

@AJK:
The graphic was illustrating connecting options.
Even with 2 passengers the graphic doesn’t change much if you’ll connect.

Anonymous

No my husband never transferred any points nor did any one other than himself pay the credit card bills.

Max

@Dan
Whats wrong with someone paying you chase bill for you?

SR

I just put some transfers through for AMEX to Flying Blue and AMEX notified me a glitch on FlyingBlue that is causing a delay in what is supposed to be immediate transfer.

Anyone else having this issue?

Thank you!

samuel

Hi DAN, if i want to do a business saver aword. is it safer to do a PLAN B now – 4 month prior to departing? is it very likly that when the business awards open (about 1 month before departing) i will automatically be bumpt to business, or is it “safer” to wait till a month before, and book a regular business saver award?

Marge Edelman

Dan, I’m very new to computers, in general, I’d like to take your “seminar training” How and when can I do this? My husband and I travel alot to Israel and Jobug, So Africa, as we have our kids and grandkids living there:) Thanks

Mayer

wich website do u check availability on!

moshe

hey dan, thanks for everything you do!
Do you know of any available reward flights the other way (tlv-nyc)?
Thanks!

Avi Deitcher

Dan, why do they have so much space NYC-TLV and so little TLV-NYC?

Dan

@Max:
No bank likes that.

@samuel:
Business saver nonstop to TLV is very hard to find.

@Marge Edelman:
Honestly if you’re new to computers the seminar probably won’t help you much.

joel

how do I book a US Air BC ticket with Amex points?

Alexander

Pity there are no business specials for Succos. Going from NY to Montral to Paris to Tel Aviv is too time consuming.I see decent Turkish Air business flights. Anyone ever fly them?

confused

I am confused. How do you book the USairways tickets with British Airways miles. Do you use the BA website or the USAirways website? I do not see any flights in the BA website.

JUST POINTING OUT

“Notes:
