If you pay with a Shell GC (bought at Lowes with Freedom, or Staples with Ink, for instance, no fees) you should save another $0.10/gal.

Please note that there is no security on your Shop & Stop rewards card, and the gas attendants can easily use your number and use up all your points for themselves.

This happened to me the last time they ran this deal, I had 8,000 points on my Shop & Stop card, I went in to fill up at a gas station and by the end of the week all my points were gone. When I called Stop & Shop, they told me they were used at that exact same gas station for 3 days in a row. They also refused to give me a the points back, and a complaint to Shell also got me nowhere.

So personally, I will not waste my time with this so called deal. I personally will also not shop at Stop & Shop or Shell again.

I read the post but im just confused how it works. If i buy shell GC from lowes and then go to stop and shop, all i need to do is buy $500 visa GC with lets say my Sapphire, scan my Stop and shop card, and then take my shell GC and my stop and shop Reward card to shell and the gas station will scan the stop and shop card like as if they were a stop and shop themselves? how do they have the scanner for that? Its wired into their system??

I did this when giant offered 5x gas points on gc back in feb. my process is, buy $500 MC gc using giant rewards card, enough to offset the per gallon of gas amount, around $4, receive bonus points, go to gas station and redeem gas points, filling my car and wifes. rinse and repeat. at my giant store, the points expire on a per period basis, which is May 10, then the next cycle begins, so i’ll be back sunday and monday to buy more giftcards. our cars only fill up to 25 gallons together, deal is up to 30 gallons, i need to buy a gas can to maximize

@Eddie, same thing happened to me lady time, except my points were used 3 times in the sane day at the same station. I found out half a week later when I looked at my account. I called stop and shop, gave them the details of the purchase I actually made and at the end they issuesd me a new rewards card and reinstated the points that were ‘stolen’. I also lodged a complaint with Shell, but never heard from them.

same thing happened to me at the last promotion. after filling up a few times at the shell station using points, a few days after the last time i went, i noticed that my stop & shop account was in negative points! i called and was told that my account number was used 3 times at the same station, in the same day. I gave them the info for the actual purchase that i made, and I have been issued a new account number. the “stolen” points were returned to me on the new card. (Luckily, I was keeping track of my points and expiration dates.)
I complained to Shell as well, but of course, I never heard anything from them.
Of course, I am a little hesitant to try to build up rewards points again.
Bottom line – you need to be vigilant and check your rewards account to see if any games are being played….

went to 2 stop n shops on long island, they only had $50 and $100 cards
2 months ago they had $500 mastercards , not anymore. I inquired at customer service if they keep the higher valued ones at customer service and they said whatever is out there is what they have… at $100 $7, get .30 cents x 35 gallons, about $9, not worth it..

It was the Shell station on Route 22 West in Watchung, NJ

Same thing happened to me also, they stole about 6000 points. I don’t get though how they do it without writing down the card number though…

Hi everyone. Just came back from Stop n’ Shop on Grand Ave. in Queens (NYC). Was able to ONLY purchase $2,000 worth of Visa/MaserCards – That’s the limit! Store manager showed me printed rules. So, the question is, does anyone with experience know if going to another sore today and using a different credit card to pay will work? Additionally, guys post which stores have large denominations like $200.00 and $500.00 – Grand Ave. store didn’t have anything larger than $100.00. Good luck to all!!!!
