Update-10/05: Fare is still alive, it just takes a little bit of digging to find! All possible dates will be between 11/04-12/05.

I just found it departing on 11/12, 11/16, 11/23, and other dates, and returning on 11/16, 11/18, 11/19, 11/23, 11/30, and many other dates, on AA from dca (washington dc/reagan)-jfk and on SA from jfk-jnb and jnb-iad for $580 after the $890/$580 price drop page.

There is also a currently a $580 flight after the price drop page from 11/12-11/17 with the same airlines and airports as on the original flight below.

Priceline Linky

1. Go to Priceline and select “multi-destination.”

2. For flight 1 use IAD (Washington D.C./Dulles) to JFK
For flight 2 use JFK to JNB (Johannesburg, South Africa)
For flight 3 use JNB to IAD

For example by checking for a flight from iad-jfk and jfk-jnb on 11/09 and then jnb-iad on 11/16 the price comes out to $890 (which is by itself a very good price!) on United from iad to jfk and on South African for jfk-jnb and jnb-iad. When you select the $890 price though on the next page it comes back as just $580!

If you find this deal for other cities please post them!

Also be sure to post what other dates work or don’t work for you!

Nice Deal

Hey, any news if this deal is still on for any dates?!?!?!

Doc

I don’t get it- it is cheaper from DC with a stop in JFK, than directly from JFK?

alen

For the days you posted its around $900 with IAD-JFK-JNB-JFK

Mordy

Dan, what do you think? Is this deal still alive somehow?

sk

no luck with any dates…

Mordy

Is it possible to book the flight that starts in washington dc but only actually fly from jfk, or will they not let you on the jfk flight unless you flew from wdc?

Dan/Ctownbochur

Folks, the deal is alive and kicking-remember that you have to select the flight at 890 in order to see it fall to 580!

And yes, you will have to start and end in DC, perhaps a $5 boltbus ride from NYC.

StarwoodNewbie

To all Starwood Users,

I recently signed up for my first Starwood Business AMEX and I scheduled a payment for my full balance a week in advance and I saw that the Starpoints posted even before I paid off the bill. I assume many of you can figure out all of the positive ramfications of this, mostly being that I think once the Starpoints are in the account I assume that AMEX can’t take them back.
Can anyone who may know please explain to me how and when AMEX posts the Starpoints to SPG?

Thanks for all the help!!

Nice Deal

@Dan/Ctownbochur: Dan, is there any possible way this deal will work DEC/JAN time?

Mendy

The deal is still on!!! i just found a $580 ticket leaving on the 17th returning on the 30th.(November)

However you have to book single tickets at a time, it does not work with multiple passengers…

Good luck!

Ari

Hey Dan,

Thanks for this awesome post. It didn’t take much searching at all, immediately I booked two tickets for my wife and I. However, though I indicated to pricline (where the option is) that I have an infant under age two, they haven’t issued a ticket for him and now when I call them they insist that a two month old baby has to pay full fare… Does anyone have helpful info in regards to that matter or on how to ensure that my child will travel with us and how to get the best deal for him etc as well as insightful long-travel with baby info. Thanks again Daniel and anyone else who coujld be of help. Gmar tov!
