DH

I believe this is available for the same price with windows 7 as well

Dan

@DH:
Link?

abe

why is the older software more expansive then the new software ?

Dan

@abe:
Because people will pay more for it. And because it’s better.

Same thing happened with XP and Vista.

says $699 for windows 8 and $749 for windows 7 , not $649 starting price ?? am i corect>

Dan

@3.6:
The code is there for a reason.

3.6

mistake, I had to put in the coupon code for the $50 savings

david

Funny, because Microsoft allows you to downgrade from windows 8 to 7 for free… might as well buy the windows 8 version, if you are tech savvy

DH

David, that’s not correct you need a license for that

SA

DH, David is correct, but only in part.

As I understand it:
Microsoft does indeed allow you to downgrade from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 7 Pro.

But they do not allow you to downgrade from Windows 8 (non-Pro) to Windows 7 (Home Premium).

As to why it’s more expensive, the likely reason is that Microsoft is subsidizing Windows 8 and not Windows 7.

@3.6:

got an email saying they are upgrading to Inspiron 3647
4th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-4440 Processor

I’m stoked about that – kinda bummed they forced us to “upgrade” to windows 8.1
