-Philadelphia to/from Dallas nonstop for $93.80 round-trip on USAirways (2,605 miles)
This can be a useful flight if you’re gunning for what’s possibly a lifetime of Star Alliance Gold status via Aegean.  You only need to earn 19,000 miles in a year to attain that.
While cheap United fares only earn 0.5 miles when credited to Aegean, cheap USAirways fares earn full credit. USAirways leaves the Star Alliance on 03/30 though, so there’s not much time left to take a mileage run to earn Aegean Gold via USAirways flights. I’ve included some mileage run options in the sample dates below in case you want to take a few quick trips to rack up miles for a lifetime of free bags and club access on dozens of airlines.
Sample dates from PHL-DFW: 01/22-01/23, 01/28-01/29, 01/28-01/30, 01/29-01/30, 02/04-02/05, 02/10-02/11, 02/10-02/13, 02/11-02/12, 02/11-02/16, 02/18-02/19, 02/19-02/20, 02/25-02/26.

You say “airfare” and the world goes to Dans Deals!

Making Aliyah

Is it better to remain having round trip tickets originating in the US (guessing at anticipated TLV-US travel, or paying/requesting of waiving the change of fee charges) or start fresh with round trips originating in Israel? Just worried that we will miss out on most of the great deals that you find and post if we originate in E-Y.

Dan: Have you seen this comment on the USAIR page regarding Aegean: “We plan to continue relationships with the following airlines, which means you’ll be able to earn and redeem miles on these select partners even after we’ve exited Star Alliance: Aegean, Air China, Air New Zealand, Avianca, Ethiopian Airlines, Eva, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, TAM, TAP and Turkish Airways.” We then should be able to use USAIR to get our Aegean miles even after March 31. ????

Olympics nu?

Dan,

Can you elaborate on the NYC-Moscow in business on S7?
I called BA and they can’t do it. S7 website shows a flight Geneva-Munich-Moscow but one first flight is operated by Lufthansa. Do you know how to book this with Avios? Is there a way to do this with only one stop between and NYC and Moscow?

Dan

@Jay:
Hard to know for sure what the deal is.

@Olympics nu?:
Who said anything about S7 from NYC? They don’t fly to NYC.

Olympics nu?

Got it….Many thanks for all that you do, I did find it a bit confusing but now I see that it’s Moscow-Sochi for 15k/30k
