Update: This deal is now dead but tickets that were successfully booked will be honored! Here is the statement from Delta:
“For a portion of the morning today, some prices on delta.com and other booking channels were incorrectly displayed, resulting in lower than usual fares for customers. The situation has been resolved and the correct prices are being displayed. Delta will honor any fares purchased at the incorrect price.”

For those that didn’t a confirmation from Priceline:
I saw my itinerary show up in my Delta account and clicked on the upcoming trip, then clicked on RECEIPT at the top and saved as PDF as well as sent to my email (which came through from Delta). it has all our ticket numbers (4 seats), confirmation number, seats assigned, names and price paid.
Should be good enough proof in they decide to try yank it.

Sometimes, airlines say no to mistake airfares. In Delta’s contract of carriage, for example, it states it won’t honor these fares. And while the Department of Transportation says the price of purchased fares cannot be raised, it appears they can be canceled and there are several cases of airlines not honoring these fares. About all you can do is book and hope for the best.

Question on wrong name for kids: booked 3 tickets from lax to hnl. Unforturnately, I was doing it so fast and the computer auto filled my 8yr old daughter’s last name totally wrong, my last name instead of hers. I was told the only way to change her name is to cancel and rebook. My recollection is that security don’t really check kids id. Should I chance it or cancel the trip? No rebooking since the deal is dead.

Thank you @dan once again!! FYI for those who booked right away (within 20 min) but got a booking failure on priceline (like me), one of the main reasons was because you selected adult fares as well as children or infant fares…because some or all of the flights were in business class, it made a booking error as children cant fly business…future lesson; ALWAYS select adult only fares! there is no discount or benefit (that i know of) for selecting child/infant fares (unless flying international, then infant is 10%)

Unfortunately I missed out….happy for everyone who got lucky! Didn’t know where to post this but Dan if you could please note somewhere an imp fact that I think many might not be aware of. When traveling international (depending on the country but many, including Israel), your passport must be valid for at least 6 months. Was unaware if this and had a problem recently.

You may not like to hear this but I am the one who called delta and DM’d them as well to alert them to this price mistake.
Now before you get all upset at me please take a moment and read why I did this.
1. I own some stocks @ delta and each and everyone of you are stealing from me. My stock value and dividends will decrease because of the loss that MY company is writing off because of all the thieves here.
2. According to the Rabbinical decrees that I read (when El Al had tickets stolen from them by people on this site), one is not allowed to take advantage of such a mistake.
3. This is a great desecration of his name when the gentiles see that ultra orthodox Jews are purposely taking advantage of an honest mistake.
4. Even you were to argue that because delta honored the stolen tickets. This is still incorrect because the only reason they honored it was because they had no choice per the laws on this subject. In reality they would not want to honor this. So you are in essence stealing.
5. Delta has been working hard to provide a top notch flying experience. They have been taking delivery of new planes and they have been improving the Delta Miles program. This loss will be a setback to the timetable of improvements.
So all those who got these fares should at least apologize to me.

@The truth!: First of all. :Unless you are also a Posek, nobody is stealing from you here. How many times do people make a mistake and the airlines don’t care and keep the money paid. If you go to the supermarket and they price guarantee the correct price will register or the item is free and you tell your friends is that stealing as well. You bought a stock hoping to make a profit and it may or may not turn out that way, but you knew you were taking a risk when you bought the stock and bought it anyway. Delta stock might somehow go up in the long run because of it. In any event you are correct that nobody could blame you for alerting Delta in the course of trying to protect your own interests, but for the most part this is a win for the little guy and you should not resent people for taking advantage of a major corporation who usually take advantage of their customers’ mistake on any given day.

I am eternally grateful that i managed to get 7 tickets, and only have to find 3.
However, buying 3 at regular price is not financially a possibility for us.
Can any of you imagine a lifestyle with 9 kids B”H where you only buy things that are on sale? Where every penny is counted. Your heart cries to give your children opportunities and when one like this comes up, its a miracle. Because otherwise it would just not happen.
BH we have family there who can host us so that will not be an expense. And we are amazing at finding things to do for free. I kept my family busy with trips this summer for $127!
I chose not to respond to the one who made crude remarks about our choices- it does not dignify a response. But when others posted in my “please help” and “desperate” name, I wanted to clarify things.
Having never flown anywhere in the last 10 years, I was unaware that it is not possible to change names or dates.
Thank you for listening.
P.S.- someone suggested we open a Credit card that will have Delta miles, giving 2 free mileage tickets or something like that. If anyone has any information on how and which Credit cards to open, please let me know. Many thanks.

Delta discounted seats from this morning glitch will be honored by delta, but not orbitz! Orbitz charged my credit at 10am and gave me a confirmation #. Delta.com showed the tickets and the reservation and allowed me to pick out my seats and gave me a delta confirmation #. Then……Orbitz cancelled the tickets after a 3 way call with delta, orbitz, and myself. Delta rep told orbitz to honor the fare because they would on their end. Orbitz refused. NEVER EVER BOOK ANYTHING THROUGH ORBITZ! Never ever. They refunded my credit card at 8pm after I book a nonrefundable hotel in Hawaii. I’m now out $2500.00 from the hotel I can not get to due to orbitz. NEVER EVER USE ORBITZ. orbitz cost me $2500. Legal action being pursued! Oh yeah, it was our honeymoon.

Hey Guys! I am thinking of opening an office with a few people on staff and every time such a deal pops up we will do all the bookings for our clients. We will have a fiber connection as well as a few VPN connections to other areas in the USA so that we can have the fastest access to whatever data center is not crashing.
During the off times we will do virtual secretary work for these same clients.
