You must create an online account at americanexpress.com and register your AMEX cards before you can use these services.

AMEX offers an array of powerful online services that no other credit card company comes close to offering. These include:

Credit card disputes: If you’ve ever disputed a charge on a Visa or Mastercard you know how big of a hassle it is. You have to snail mail lots of paperwork over to them and then keep harassing them to find out what the status of the dispute is. I’ve had some disputes with Visa/Mastercard stretch out over a year because of the cumbersome process.

With AMEX filing a credit card dispute is simple, and they are far more likely to rule in your favor that any other credit card. If a company gives you a hard time with a return or rebate then AMEX will almost always step up to the plate and refund your money!

Here’s how to do it without ever having to pick up the phone or file paperwork:

    1. Logon to your AMEX account online at americanexpress.com

    2. Click on the credit card on which you want to dispute a charge.

    3. Click on recent activity.

    4. If the item you wish to dispute is listed under recent activity then scroll down to the bottom of the list of transactions and click on “Dispute a Charge/Check Dispute Status.” If the item you wish to dispute is not listed under recent activity then find the statement on which the charge appears by adjusting the time period above the list of transactions.

    5. Follow the instructions in order to file a chargeback.

    Credit line increases:

    1. Logon to your AMEX account online at americanexpress.com

    2. On the right-hand side of the page is “Account services,” click on “See all account services”

    3. Click on the credit card on which you want to increase the credit limit.

    4. Click on “Credit and Balance Transfers”

    5. Click on “Increase your line of credit”

    6. Enter in your new desired credit limit and your annual income and you will get an instant decision!

    Credit line reallocations:

    1. Logon to your AMEX account online at americanexpress.com

    2. On the right-hand side of the page is “Account services,” click on “See all account services”

    3. Click on the credit card on which you want to increase the credit limit.

    4. Click on “Credit and Balance Transfers”

    5. Click on “Reallocate your line of credit”

You can now swap the credit limits between all of your AMEX cards, including personal and business credit cards! As long as the new total credit line is the same as you existing one the credit line reallocation will be instantaneous!

Update Email settings to be able to receive targeted promotions:

very true but on the downside amex only allows you to increase your line of credit two months after opening and then you have to wait 6 months to do it again, also they don’t have a max option, you have to guess how much they’ll allow
    I still love amex

Citi is very nice in taking new customers and there no pre-set cards lets you take them for a ride, example is the American Airline Advantage Card there is not pre-set, the only downside is there is a mileage cap of 100,000 per year which gets reset in January, the bonus for opening the card which currently is 25,000 AA Miles is not included in the total allowed per year!

@Reader: What card is that? No spending limit?

    @Reader:
I’ve never heard of a citi card without a pre-set limit.

Regardless, why would you want to spend on the Citi AA card when spending on the Starwood AMEX will get you 25% more AA miles and there is no earnings limit???

one of my favorite features is amexmobile.com for access from cell phones/pda’s.

He’s referring to Citi’s “revolving credit” where they say you can spend however much you want as long as you pay up by the end of the month.
The downside is that because you don’t have a limit it shows up on your credit record as a zero limit! And besides, I doubt it’s really unlimited. I am sure they will stop you at some point.

my revolving line on citi is 30,000 and i spent 90,000 last month which means i went over by 60,000 and they didnt even try to stop charges or anything, no question no tax return request,no FR from Amex to deal with! Amex would have have have my account under review within a day!

Citi is nailing plenty of people with their “adverse action” review.
With that kind of spending you may raise quite a red flag for them!

    Citifan

with adverse action they will shut your account down but they wont ask you for your tax returns, adverse action by citi will come up not if your spending is to high but rather if u have too many inquiries on your Credit Report.
