Dan I know this way off topic but I tried forums with no success
what is the consensus for best way to use points for car rentals? I have Amex, ultimate rewards or is best to pay with credit card like world barlcays and get reimbursed.
and second if I use points or Barclay’s how can make use of united explorer card for insurance coverage.

Barclays will be best.
You can rent on United and then switch it to Barclay’s when you return the car with no damage.

And how often are you damaging cars? I’ve been renting for 10 years and have yet to damage a rental car.
In any normal scenario you’ll switch to Barclays and be done with it.

I’m planning to advance-pay for a sheva brachos I’m making… Hoping to get the 3.21 points when they run my card on the first Friday of September. I’ll let you know how that works out.
