Airlines Matching Airtran/Southwest Sale

Airtran and Southwest are running a flight distance based sale as follows:
-Purchase by 02/07.
-Travel 04/03-06/08.
-Travel valid every day except Sundays.
-$49 each way for flights 0-500 miles
-$89 each way for flights 501-1,000 miles
-$119 each way for flights 1,001-1,500 miles
-$149 each way for flights 1,501+ miles

Personally though I’m more excited about the major airlines that are matching these fares as I prefer flying nonstop and earning more valuable miles. United had been charging $532 yesterday for nonstop flights from Cleveland to Kansas City, today for 04/08-04/15 for example it can be had for just $198.  Tons of other ticket prices have come tumbling down as well.

With Google Flights you can type in your origin city and find destinations based on your travel dates.  Or read about using ITA Software to use their awesome month-long calendar search to help find dates with cheap flights.

While Google and ITA won’t sell you flights you can just plugin the info on a site like Orbitz or Priceline and book it there.  Plus those sites give until 11pm or 11:30pm respectively the day after you book to cancel for free.

Post a comment of deals that you find!

@Mike Most tickets outside of Y only get 50% on United. If you can find a USAir ticket, those get you 100% on almost all. That’s how I got mine.

We just got roundtrip tickets from Fort Lauderdale to Baltimore for $124 and $113 roundtrip for Purim! I booked one Wednesday evening and when I booked the second one on Thursday through Orbitz it was cheaper than through AirTran. Amazing! I want to book a flight for a trip in May from Fort Lauderdale to Newark or LaGuardia. When is the best time to book to get the best price on flights? Thanks for all you do!
