    ———-

    Dear Mastercard social media personnel,

Please escalate to corporate management the fiasco which Best Buy has created by issuing a coupon for $50 off $100 in purchases with a Mastercard with clearly listed product inclusions and exclusions valid 1/21 to 1/27, and then in a single day (1/21), re-issuing many changes to the terms & conditions (including but not limited to dates of validity, products included, products excluded, requirement of a single item priced at or over $100 instead of a total transaction at or over $100) and opening up accusations of false advertising and bait and switch.

The original coupon can be found at:
    http://image.emailinfo2.bestbuy.com/lib/fef41d77766c04/m/43/13729-2_MasterCardPromo_Coupon_final.pdf

I recognize that the Best Buy coupon asserts that Mastercard is not the sponsor of this promotion nor does Mastercard have liability, but what Mastercard DOES have and cannot disclaim is the memory of thousands of customers subject to miserable customer service experiences thanks to Best Buy employees and store managers handling this fiasco from Best Buy corporate marketing as best they can but because corporate has provided such confusing and poor guidance, leaving everybody confused and angry.

As a corporation, I expect that you carefully manage your brand image. Your brand has gotten dragged through the mud through this incident.

    - Sincerely, a Mastercard customer who is looking at his other credit cards with the pretty Visa logo

I’ve just added this sentence in private message to Mastercard:

Perhaps Mastercard can provide Best Buy some assistance in promotional error recovery crisis management.

went to Atlantic mall in brooklyn , manager wouldn’t let me buy a single item over $100 with it(lg monitor $140), it was prob. b/c it was on sale as one of the commenters above mentioned. btw he also hid all the gc’s in the store, except the BB ones.

One more exclusion they through into the mix (at least when I tried to make a purchase) – No sale items. I spent 40min at my local store trying to make a purchase, and came to the checkout/counter no less than 4 times. Each time I tried to make a purchase, they made up a new exclusion. Some of their new exclusions were included in their “correction sign” in the store, but most of them weren’t, and the manager seemed to just be making them up as he went along. It’s disgraceful how they handled this, and I would say that I’m not going to shop at Best Buy anymore, but I never would have regardless.

You may have a hard time with that, since they seem to have told all of their store employees that it expired last night

No. Best buy (being terrible with customer service as always) has a very strict return policy if u have no receipt they will not take if back period. If u give them the receipt they will only give u back what u paid and put that on your MasterCard.
