Who in their right mind would want a WiFi enabled standalone camera when new Android smartphones take pictures and videos of similar quality and upload instantly and automatically to the cloud, account, or device of choice – free?

Is this the lowest price anyone has ever seen for this camera? Don’t know much about this camera.

@fargus:
There’s no comparison between a Canon Elph and a phone camera. The Elph takes infinitely better pictures.
@Mdw:
The lowest price on Amazon ever was $168, so this is a great price.

@Dan – Better pic, sure, but not by a long shot over high end phones, and mot people don’t need or utilize the extra quality. You can take superb HD videos on most good smartphones.

@Fargus:
Gonna have to agree to disagree here. I’ve yet to see a phone that comes close to an elph.

@Fargus
Not even close buddy. You’re giving the phones way too much credit.

@Mike – Most people take photos and videos to share with friends and family and don’t use the highest resolutions possible. Uploading to any sharing or archival site, by default, will not benefit from 16MP resolution versus what a good phone will provide. HD is enough for most needs.

@ Fargus. We can go back and forth all day. Take is for what it is, this is a very good deal on a great little camera that has some very cool features. I can take nice pictures with my droid and post them to facebook or email in 2 seconds, and the pictures may come out quite good….but you cant compare a droid camera to this camera and exprect the same quality which is why I bought this camera.

@Fargus:
Comparing megapixels doesn’t compare quality. Optics, sensor size, etc, play a much bigger role in the quality of your pics.

@Mike @Seamd etc – I understand the differences and that this is a great deal compared to other prices for the same device. My point is that for many users who don’t need or utilize the marginal quality differences, it’s not. You can have a 50MP camera with 50x zoom and every bell and whistle, but when you compress to upload and share, rarely do you retain anything beyond the HD resolution. And if you don’t, you lose the quality.
