If you’re from NYC you can book a separate one-way flight to Chicago for just $68.80. If you’re from Toronto you can use 4,500 BA Avios for a one-way flight to Chicago.
From NYC this means you can get a flight with 2 stops to Tel Aviv and nonstop back home to $758.97 instead of paying $1,157 for a regular nonstop flight. Sure, adding stops to save $400 isn’t for everyone, but it is still a good deal. Plus you’ll earn more miles that way
You can throw away the final leg back to Chicago if you just want to get off in JFK, Newark, or Toronto, even if you have luggage, as all luggage must be reclaimed and brought through customs. At that point you can either recheck your bags to Chicago or just leave the airport.
You do need to fly to Chicago to pick up the flight. If you miss the originating Chicago flight your entire itinerary will be canceled!
If you are from other cities like Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, or even Kansas City it’s just 9,000 BA Avios (which can be transferred from all 3 major transferable point currencies, Membership Rewards, Ultimate Rewards, and Starwood) to fly round-trip to Chicago.
There are tons of available dates, here are just some sample valid dates on the different carriers:
