Possible Bonus Miles With United Credit Cards?

Update #2: DDF users chff and ruly101 posted this morning that their 5,000 miles had posted.  I went to my United account and lo and behold my 5,000 miles had posted as well under the description “Chase Bonus” :D
Did you get a 5,000 mile Chanukah present as well?

Don’t have a United card? Scroll to the end of this post to see how I earned 105,000 miles and $100 cashback for opening a United consumer and business card.

Update: United has updated the terms of these promos to exclude Americans.  Here are screenshots of the promotions with the original terms:

$3,000 Screenshot Linky

———————————————————————————

There are a couple links going around for bonus miles for spending on any United credit card.
They appear not to be targeted and I was able to register for both promotions.
It should count all spending back from August 1st, even if you register today.

According to the terms the bonus miles won’t post until mid-January, so we won’t know if this works until then, but it would be pretty sweet if I get both bonuses :D

Link 1: 5,000 bonus miles for spending $1,000+ on your MileagePlus Credit Card between August 1 and October 31, 2012. DEAD!

Link 2: 5,000 bonus miles for spending $3,000+ on your MileagePlus Credit Card between August 1 and October 31, 2012. DEAD!

Just enter your mileage number and then click on the arrow to register.

    Do you lose united miles if you cancel the united card?
    the T&C condition on chase site exactly says that!

    I got my chase UME card 5 months ago and have 60k miles but plan to cancel when the annual fee is due .

    Does it work with sapphire? not sure if that counts as a united card, although you can use the points towards united.
    I have the united mileage plus card anyway, its just all my spending from august was on my sapphire so I would be eligible already for the bonus.

    also i registered for the 1k and 3k spending,
    if i don’t end up spending the 3k will i still get the bonus for the 1k?

    Two questions:
    1. If I am an authorized user on someone else’s Mileage Plus Explorer card, will bonus miles be earned for spending on that card in addition to the bonus earned from the spending on the primary user’s card?
    2. Will those bonus miles go to the primary card holder’s United Mileage Plus account or to the secondary card holder’s account?

    @Mark, Sapphire is not a United card. It earns Ultimate Rewards which are flexible points which can be converted into a number of different point currencies, one of which is United.

    In the past, PMUA would de-register you for one promo if you registered for two that overlapped with one another. Is there a possibility that only one of the links will work then, since they overlap?

    @KT:
    Of course not.

    @AJK:
    Already spent it.

    @reuvenhunt:
    It will only go towards the primary.

    @donor:
    But PMCO did not and PMCO systems are running the airline.
    Either way there’s no way to know if any of these will be honored, but time will tell.

    There is new info on various sites that there has been a change in the wording of this promotion and the promotion is good only for residents of select countries in Central and South America. No one is quite sure if Chase/United is going to honor the bonus offer for those who registered before the change in T&Cs. So, I am not shifting my spend to hit the $1000 mark on this CC within this month. Buyer be aware!

    is this just me or nobody read the informatin on the link for the $1000 the following message: “Terms and conditions

    United does it again. Apparently the $1,000/5,000 mile offer is central America only. The $3,000/5,000 offer is USA . I registered last week for the. 1/5 offer no mention of central America. Limitation. Today in checking the disclaimer is up. United apparently thought only Central Americans would sign up. More broadly: Is there some huge incentive for United management to destroy United? Let me put it another way: Due Diligence DefCon 1 is insufficient with United you have to go to DueDiligenceDefCon 5 with United.

    The T&Cs for the $3000 spend have also been changed today. Only the following bank is eligible for this promotion:

    ‘Eligible card for this promotion is only Standard Bank- Argentina.’

    So, we are out of luck for both the $1000 and the $3000 spend promotions. Their original T&Cs say that they have the right to change their T&Cs. Never trust any United promotions again. For those of us who spent $3000, it is a big let down, as those charges could have been used to meet the spend on another card with a bonus.
