Dan, I got a better deal searching the web for a hertz car rental the weekend of May 16, in Israel. the best Hertz was able to give me with the amex special was 15% off. my own on line search gave me my car for 20% discount. I learned to search for all these deals from you, Dan. thank you

I guess I can try to use the discount and charge it to Visa when I get there.

Consider what you get for the $450 though:
-Signup bonus miles.
-$400 of airline gift cards.
-Platinum card lounge access.
-Priority Pass lounge access.
-Waived Global Entry fee.
-No forex fees.
-Starwood Gold status.
-Lost item insurance.

Is the airline credit $400? It was always only $200 did AMEX increase it?

$200 per calendar year.
Thus you can get $200 in 2012 and $200 in 2013 and still cancel the card when the next annual fee is due.
Practically pays for the annual fee and makes the other benefits just icing on the cake!
Noach car rental is alot cheaper than this Amex offer….
