Amazing Business Class Availability Between The US And Australia!

Update: DEAD!

It’s usually very hard to find business or first class availability directly between the US and Australia.  Usually it involves flying via Asia or Europe, something that can be done for the same rate by USAirways or Continental, but if done with AA miles will cost a hefty premium. With Continental, United, and USAirways miles you can also usually find premium cabin seats via New Zealand if you book within a couple months of  your flight.  With Delta miles you can book direct on V Australia, but Delta charges heavy fuel surcharges for travel on V Australia.

Right now searching on Continental.com there is an incredible amount of saver business class availability for 67,500 miles each way on the United nonstop flights between Los Angeles/San Francisco and Sydney/Melbourne.

Date changes are free, so go ahead and book that mileage ticket down under!

Steve

Which dates are you finding a lot? Im seeing a day here and there which is what I always see…

aussie

Still prefer to fly via Europe and Asia then on UA 😛

Dan

@ted:
Enjoy!@

chani:
Secure message them that you saw a better offer for 50K.

@Steve:
Are you joking? There are entire months with business class saver awards on almost every single day.

@aussie:
I hear ya!

co card

what will happen to our co cards after march 1st?
will we earn miles on united? or earn nothng?

mia

Are there options if I want to stop in Aisa or new Zealand?

Dan

@co card:
You will earn United miles.

@mia:
Sure.

hendel

it is difficult finding premium saver awards between Aukland and Melbourne with Air new Zealand.

But this is great deal as the premium awards on United are usually impossible to get before 2-3 weeks out.

gswannabe

just booked 2 tkts, thanks dan !
could only get from the west coast, but i live in NY, anyway to add in that segment without using more miles ?

Moshe E

Does United MilagePlus Miles just expire for closing a credit card?

Levi

Hey Dan,

How long does it take to transfer points from chase(united,continental,sapphire and ink bold)?

I wanna fly peasach to Israel ..were should i trasfer it ? what is the best airline to travel with ?

Thank you

ARS

Being that you can do a stopover on continental, can you do a stopover in Israel on a roundtrip to australia?

moshed

how do i get 30K bonus points on chase freedom by sending chase a secure message if i only received 20K?

thanks

Dan

@gswannabe:
Sure, give them a call withni 24 hours.

@Moshe E:
No.

@Levi:
Instant. Transfer to Continental/United for Star Alliance travel.

@ARS:
The problem is that there is no good routing from Israel to Australia.

ARS

@DAN:
What’s wrong with tlv-ist-hkg-syd?

Dan

@ARS:
You will be extremely hard pressed to find any agent willing to route you US-Middle East-Europe-Asia-Australia unless you plan on using an RTW award.

gswannabe

got nyc-sfo added to the ticket with a stop in cleveland, but waitlisted for the jfk sfo direct flight

Dan

@gswannabe:
You can always stop by for dinner if your W/L doesn’t clear 😉

Mark

Date changes are free on CO/UA? Hmm…I am Gold Elite and I thought I have always had to pay for date changes on award tickets.

Dan

@Mark:
If you change to a flight that departs within 21 days then you pay a fee, but otherwise they are free.
Some reps don’t know this and you need to ask for a manager.

Jason

United is NOT as good as Qanatas or Air New Zealand.

Dan

@Jason:
Of course not, but good luck finding business or first class awards on Qantas! Or on Air New Zealand more than 60 days out.

mia

Can we get some samples thru Asia or Europe to syd

gswannabe

appreciate the offer 😉

Michael

I have the same interest as Mia. Am interested in a one way retrn continuous flight in May from Bali to Australia to New Zealand and then onto San Francisco. Would greatly appreciate any advice.

Dan

@mia:
EWR-CDG-BKK-SYD or EWR-HNL-AKL-SYD, or EWR-LAX-BKK-SYD, etc…

@Michael:
So call them to book. Best to know in advance which dates are available.

mia

Dan, Awesome as always! thanks. Just to be sure i understand this is on united? in biz.?

Dan

@mia:
Correct.

Sholom

Sorry, Dan – but I just saw this now and checked it out and can hardly find anything available, am I doing something wrong or is this sold out already?

BOShappyflyer

Sholom – it is gone as of today. I saw it yesterday to upgrade my booked trip into Biz. The dates I was looking for didn’t work out, otherwise I’d jump in on the deal in a heartbeat. If you’re looking today, though, it’s gone…

chanie

So how does this CO/United thing work?

I have opened both credit cards. My United account had 30K in it and then I requested an additional 20, which they said they were going to give me. My “year to date” miles now reads 20K. What happened to my original 30K miles?

My continental account reads as follows
Double Miles earned from Continental & United 0
Miles earned from other purchases 28
Total Miles earned this statement 28
Total Miles transferred to Continental 28

I did request an increase on this account as well and was told that I was going to get get 50K total for this particular account. Not sure why I have nothing so far.
Maybe it takes some time to post.

Do I need to withdraw these miles and deposit them in another account? Thanks

rcarentals

how would i go about getting this with amex MR points? if at all possible? i want to buy this ticket for someone else?

Dan

@chanie:
Lol…year to date miles is not what you’re looking for.
For your sake I would just call up United to find out your total award balance.

asherr

hoe do i get the 50k from united? and can i do it even if i got 50k from continental a year ago?

Jack

Opened both the Continental, and United Cards. BEWARE: Dan does NOT tell you the term in the agreement. It reads, “United MileagePlus Explorer cardmembers will only receive one 25,000 bonus miles award if they apply for both the United Explorer Card and the Continental OnePass Plus Card after 7/19/2011.”

Dan

@Jack:
Terms say a lot of things… I’ve opened both of those cards since then and got 50K on both.

Jack

@Dan:
I just got off the phone with United and they stated I will only get 25,000 miles for both cards. Please tell me how I can get 50K each?

Dan

@Jack:

Did you spend $1 and wait for your statements to close yet?

Jack

@Dan: @Dan
No I did not. I just opened the cards. Once I wait the 6-8 weeks and spend $1.00, then what?
