please post, if they match the LA deal as well.

Dan

I dont think anyone will because
1. Its from LGB, not LAX.
2. Many dates sold out very quickly…

I have a question. When the airlines “match” a price, say in this case, $36. thats sounds like a sweet deal, but in all likelyhood, it’s limited to a few seats on each flight and only for a limited time. So it’s just a marketing gimmick as most people will likely pay the regular fare.

I say this becuase it makes no sense for the airlines to be concerned about the JB fares. JB only has 4 flights a day out of Chicago, which is just a fraction of a of the number of travelers out of Chicago to NY and / or Southern California each day. Even if JB fills everone of their seats at $36, each of the other airlines would only likely lose maybe 2-3% of their passengers.

Please confirm.

Dan

In most cases an airline match is more than just a marketing gimmick.

You can see for yourself that the fare is even more widely available on aa, airtran, and ata than it is on jetblue!

Also all airline fares, not just matches, are limited to X amount of seats per flight.

Airlines match fares as a pride issue, that no one will undercut them on a route that they serve.

The best airline matches occur when airline A publishes a cheap flight into airline B’s hub and airline B retaliates-those are always fun to watch as they can snowball into drawn out fare fights into all of their hubs. I’ve gotten tons of $98 cleveland-lax RT flights that way!

I did not look into it yet but at a retail stores like staples if you want to match a price with office max they only match it if the price is with in like 10% and when they beat a price by 10% its of the difference so if it is a 10 $ difference you save a buck so big deal
