    Do u think it is worth buying 100,000 hilton points, and converting it to 52,000 lan miles? (For NYC-YUL)

    @Izz:
    That would get you 3 round-trip award tickets, but you can also just use 20,000 Starwood points for 50,000 LAN kms.

    Under terms & conditions:
    “Points eligible for standard hotel room only; excludes Waldorf Astoria hotels and All-inclusive hotels.”

    It seems you cannot use these points at Waldorf Astorias.

    Yes, Hilton has been known to status match or challenge (and I personally received a match a few years ago to Diamond). Search flyertalk for current info.

    I just used my hh points at the waldorf a few months ago. If the t&c say they don’t work at waldorf then these don’t sound like regular hh points.

    @MEIR:
    You need activity once in 12 months to keep the points.

    They often stick in terms into these deals that aren’t factual…

    I personaly dislike hh points bec. You need about 35k for any normal hilton the same type of hotel that would cost about 10k with starwoods and the better hotels like the new york hilton are 50k and with starwoods you can get comparable for 12-15k basicaly they are inflated points. In my opinion about a third the value of starwoods for hotel stays that’s besides the advantage of starwoods ability to transfer to airlines and get the 25 percent bonus. Ib any case at about .005 a point with this deal its not too bad a deal. And for those interested I got an offer from citi a couple weeks ago for a hh credit card with a 100k signup bonus I’m not sure if it was a targeted offer or open to any but for those that purchased the points you may want to look in to that to add to your collection.

    Do you agree with my analysis on the inflated value of hh points?

    I think starwoods are like dollars and HH points are like shekels. You get more but the stuff costs more. And there is no market to sell HH points. Only get them if you are doing to stay in hiltons.
