Chumy

I just upgraded my business gold amex to platinum and want to fly from NYC to ft Lauderdale in January. What’s the best way to book? I have plenty points.

GINGYMAN

So obnoxious that they make the sale only when jews can’t use it or it is useless to them.

Dan

@Chumy:
Follow the AMEX link in the post.

Israel

Just booked for my family of three Purim weekend for 294$ Thanks Dan !!!!!

Mel

Feb 21st one-way from JFK to MIA was $93.10.

Dan
Mel

LGA to MIA worked one-way on Feb 21st at $68.
However return flight on Feb 23rd one-way is $93.10.
$68 only works to return on Feb 22nd.
So Presidents week in Florida is not happening 🙁

Dan

@Mel:
You need to read the post more carefully.

Thanks Dan. Changed to NYC. Only return on Feb 23rd is to JFK (different airport than departure) and flight leaves at 7 AM. Ugh.

Dan, if i book with my “hybrid points on the UR site, will i still be able to take advantage of free checked bags? ( i have a united explorer card)
TIA:)

Sholom

Is there a carryon bag fee for united?

Dan

@bin:
You may be able to get it waived, but officially you need to pay with that card.

@Sholom:
Not yet.

Jason

Does delta charge for luggage is so anyway out of it?

Dan

@Jason:
Open their credit card?
No need to pay with it.

Bin

@dan I just booked a united flight for 2 on the UR site using mostly points and $22.40 I put on my united card. Just saw that in my reservation on united.com that my first bag will be free! Btw this was after me calling 2 diff reps each saying I wouldn’t get the free bags. Thanks

Dan

@Bin:
Sweet!

Anyone else have the same experience?

Anonymous

What do you mean by search for one and then “work your way up”. If you only search and purchase one at a time you can lose the amount you need.

Dan

@Anonymous:
You buy however many are on sale.
If there are 4 seats on sale and you need 5, the sale will only show up if you search for 4.

After buying 4 they may release another sale seat or you can pay extra for just 1 seat rather than 4 seats.

Dina

Is the sale still going on? Can’t seem to find the sale prices

bin

@dan
United baggage update: I went to check again today and now I lost the free baggage. Before it came up with my united card as the method of payment and now there is some mastercard that isnt even in my name after calling united they said they cant give me the free bags. then i called chase travel services and they tried but also couldnt get it for me. they said the way it works is that when you pay on UR with either points or card they then pay the airline using THEIR corparate card. Hence the MC with digits i didnt recognize. But i told them i would have canceled within 24 hours had I seen this earlier, so she said shell give me 2500 good will points. i then said, nicely, that this would set me back $100, so after a breif hold she came back and said shell give 5000 good will points . I accepted and thought i should share my experience. SO beware everyone, you wont get free bags even if you put part of the charge with your united card, since they are a 3rd party and it wont register to unted as if you used your card with them. YOure still the man dan

Avi

@Dan are baby’s under 2 cheaper? I don’t want to pay full price for babys thank you

Dan

@Avi:
No need to buy a ticket for under 2.

Avi

@Dan:so totally free?? Not 10%

Dan

@Avi:
Domestic flights are free. No need to purchase a ticket.
