i dont even see aerosvit as one of the airlines for my dates . nov 17tb to 28th

o

Isn’t Kiev dangerous?

me

@yehuda:

Follow instructions……

me

@o:

Kiev is not dangerous (as dangerous as any european city). but I dont think you will be able to leave the airport without a visa

Hans Mast

R3M – $410RT base fare – 5NOV10 THROUGH 27NOV10 ON THE OUTBOUND TRANSATLANTIC SECTOR
W1BEST – $490RT base fare – 28OCT10 THROUGH 11DEC10

md

@me
You don’t need a visa if you carry a us passport.

ivk5

Looks like this books into W inventory (fare basis is W1BEST). Highlights from fare rules: valid for travel 10/28 to 12/11 for the outbound TATL segment (if you can find W inventory, that is) BUT MUST BOOK BY 10/31. Max stay 1 month. No stopovers. No changes permitted.

Some FTers got in on a $318 roundtrip all-in fare JFK-IST on same airline. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mileage-run-discussion/921385-deal-gone-aerosvit-jfk-kbp-ist-318-60-ai.html

Are you sure, it seems to have shown up as $1577 on the next page as well for two passengers….

al613

“full mileage earning” – really? 🙂 How about an article about their miles?

Hans Mast

Aha! I posted the details of R3M and W1BEST above. W1BEST is indeed the one you want even though it’s a more expensive base fare. A pricing error is causing W1BEST to price without YQ fuel surcharges. So move quickly because this mistake will be rectified very quickly.

BEWARE

this is dangerous.. my married brother and sister in law bought these tickets last year and were terrorized in kiev. till today it haunts them. i advise everyone to stay away the people didnt let them on to the connecting flight they were anmti semetic and it was scary. they made them stay in the airport for 2 days with no food or contact to anyone.. they have nightmares about it till today. its not a safe place kliev/

Joe

@ivk5: You are 100% right! My bad. I was looking at R3M. It is a 1 month maximum stay.

Rochel

Kiev not dangerous – my son just had a stop over during Tishrei – we have used that airport before – not antisematic

@Hans Mast:

mendy

A personal story

I would like to forewarn anyone choosing to fly with aerosvit that they are extremely anti-semitic and terribly ill-prepared company, i am speaking from personal experience having flown april 15 to eretz yisroel while the volcanoe erupted and most european flights were canceled. when calling the company one was greeted with an automated message saying “all aerosvit flights are running on time, no delays”…yet when i got to the airport at jfk it was 3 hours delayed, again when the flight reached kiev they said again there was no delay to israel…yet it was delayed 6 hours, the company did not provide anyone with any imformation leaving many people stranded with no way to reach any being that the company did not ensure that we had food or a place to sleep, thus leaving many families with young children with no food or any help. i myself had i known i was going to be stuck in kiev would not have flown aerosvit. i am not coming to be motze laaz rather to give a forewarning.

ARI

as a travel agent i can tell you the price is right
but as commented above the ukranian authorities arent particularly helpful towards frum people sometimes very tough and ,obnoxious towards jews at the airport and shaking down one for a bribe is very common in order to get off the imaginary crime one is accused of and yes on occassion they can detain you in order for you to miss the connecting flt leaving you stranded with no recourse
turkish airways is also generally cheaper but with the current political climate it isnt always worth the 200.00 savings to travel thru a country which every day is distancing itself from israel etc

Ed

@Hans Mast: Can you explain what you are talking about?

fortwebsolutions

ok, so we got the Aerosvit tickets (thanks Hans!)… and we asked for kosher meals. How can we protect ourselves from anything bad happening?

fortwebsolutions

@BEWARE:

why were they stopped? what excuse was given?

Hans Mast

@Ed: You’ll have to explain exactly which bit you want explained. I’ve posted a lot above.

Hans Mast

@A personal story:
What specific act of anti-semitism did you experience? I know it was a very difficult and frustrating time over the volcano, but I didn’t notice you explain how you were discriminated against or treated nastily.

@ARI: I’d be curious to hear several specific examples (how many people traveling together, crime accused of, which type of official, etc), which should be easy since you said it’s “very common”.

true story

i flew to kiev from israel and back again and had no problems. yes the security people are much stricter but nothing scary or crazy.

женя

@o: extremely. use protection

hotage

I’m begging all of you stay away from that metzia.it would take me a lot more than ablog to tell you the nightmare I exprienced by the airline & airport personal.after consulting with a rov he advised me to make a seudas hodoah on my “escape” and try to warn whoever I can. I have spoken to many newspapers to spread the story but felt it wasn’t exciting enough.” lo saamod al dam reacchu”PLEASE PRINT THIS”

A personal story

the antisemitism is palpable their. you can tell they do not like the frum jews there. from how they answer your questions (from tersely to not at all) to how they service you (scarcely to not existent).you can tell from the many people so far who have warned everyone about them that my story is not uncommon.

moish

i flew with them from moscow to kiev and from kiev to athens with my wife and 2 year old, ordered kosher meals and did not have any problems whatsoever

student
